Abstract
Destutt de Tracy's Treatise on the Will and its Effects (1815) is both a philosophical and economic work. Tracy, one of the leading Idéologues, argues that all value originates in human labor and will, and that property, exchange, and production are natural consequences of human agency. Thomas Jefferson admired this work so highly that he arranged its first publication in English.
