Community organization founded in 1993, dedicated to the development of the Debian free operating system. Made up of volunteers from all over the world, the Debian project aims to produce a stable, secure and completely free system, based on the Linux kernel. Debian is renowned for its rigorous software quality standards, democratic management and strict policy in favor of free software, as formalized in the Debian Social Contract and the Debian Free Software Guidelines.
