How to Create a Bitcoin Community

Setting up your Telegram group or supergroup

Now that your Telegram group (or supergroup) is up and running, it's time to configure permissions and set up moderation. Each community is free to choose its own approach, but experience shows it's best to limit certain member permissions:
  • Sending a survey;
  • Sending files (to avoid potential viruses);
  • Sending voice messages;
  • Adding users (helps prevent bot invasions);
  • Pinning messages;
  • Editing group information.
It's highly recommended to write a clear description of your meetup when creating your Telegram group or supergroup, as it's the first thing potential members will see. For example:
Welcome to @Bitcoin's Telegram [CITY] 🔥 We organize a meet-up every first Wednesday of the month at the bar [BAR_NAME], in [CITY] 🍻 Check out our other social networks: [LINK] 🌐
In this example, the Bitcoin Lille administrators have customized their public Telegram link for easier sharing.
In "Group settings", it may be wise to enable "Approve new members ".
Some Bitcoin Telegram groups have been targeted by thousands of fake accounts designed to spam or disrupt the community.
Activating member approval can save your group from a spam attack.
Within the Administrators section, you can also enable an "Aggressive Anti-Spam" feature to automatically delete suspicious messages. This isn't always necessary but can add an extra layer of protection.
